Born in William St, Cilfynydd. Father was a conductor and mother, who died when he was a boy, was also a singer. The young Geraint was a talented pianist and violinist, and also sang in local productions. He left school at 14 to work as a window dresser in a ladies clothes shop in Pontypridd. Joined the RAF and became involved with the music department of the Britsh Forces Network. Joined Royal Opera House in 1947. Quickly progressed to perform Figaro when only 26.Donated by Dean Powell.
