This was the home of Evan James and his son James James when they composed Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau in 1856. The woollen factory has long disappeared. The County Hotel stood on the same site until it was demolished in the late 1950s. In 2012 the site is now occcupied by a hostel for the homeless.
